Description

This early 18th century house and former shop are located on the north side of High Street in Marshfield. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with a 20th century tiled roof. It is two storeys high, with a cellar. The front features two two-storey canted bay windows, each topped with a coped stone gable. The windows have 20th century top-hung casements with glazing bars, and a continuous string course runs above the ground floor between the two bays. A central entrance features a six-panel door within a bolection moulded surround. To the left, number 46 was formerly a shop; it is rendered with a moulded parapet. The shopfront has been replaced, and a blocked door (now a window) is sheltered by a flat stone hood supported on brackets. There is a 20th century top-hung casement window with glazing bars on the first floor.
