Description
Dean Lodge East and Dean Lodge West are two houses, originally one larger house and associated outbuildings, dating from the 17th century with a significant renovation and extension in the early 19th century. The construction combines roughcast rendering over rubble stonework, with double Roman tile roofing, except for the central dormer of the west wing which has stone slates. The building is two and a half storeys high, featuring three windows in the main block and five windows in the one-and-a-half storey west wing. The windows are a mix of casements, margin-glazed sashes, and fixed multi-panes. The main block has gables, with the west gable protruding and featuring one window, alongside two further windows, all beneath heavy, weathered labels. A six-panel door is located in the re-entrant angle, behind an early 19th century pointed garden entrance with voussoirs and a keystone. The ground floor of the west wing also possesses similar labels over the windows, set at varying heights, and includes a large central hipped eaves dormer and three further hipped dormers. A plain recessed entry is situated at the west end, beneath a 20th century casement window.
