Description

Southend House, now divided into eight flats, is a detached burgess house dating from the mid to late 18th century. The building is constructed of ashlar, with the north wing rendered. It has a slate roof behind a coped parapet and a projecting, moulded cornice. Ashlar stacks with cornices are also present. The main block is three storeys high and five bays wide, featuring pilasters at each end. It contains glazing bar sash windows, with a single 20th-century casement window on the ground floor to the right. A 20th-century panelled door is set within a projecting porch supported by Tuscan columns. A single-bay, rendered wing extends to the right. The north wing is two storeys high and has three glazing bar sash windows. A 20th-century flight of stairs provides access to the first-floor flats.
