Description
Upton Lea is an early 18th century building with an early 19th century addition and remodelling from around the 1860s. The main section is two storeys high, constructed from coursed lias rubble with freestone quoins and dressings. It features a hipped slate roof with end ashlar chimneys. On the first floor, there are three windows: the outer ones are modern casements, while the centre window is a sash with late glazing. The ground floor has outer angled bays with angle pilasters and marginally glazed sash windows above panels. The central entrance is arched, featuring a central door and a radiating fanlight.
To the west, there is a three-storey set back wing with two windows, which are glazing bar sashes, and it has a coped verge and saddlestone. The ground floor of this wing has a central chamfered doorway with a cambered head and a bracketed hood, flanked by two-light ovolo mullion windows, which are likely replacements. To the east, there is a two-storey one bay wing made with black slag quoins, featuring a 3-light flat mullion casement window with a cornice, which connects to the earlier three-storey section.
