Description
This is a group of 10 chest tombs located 2 yards from the north-east corner of the nave of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. They date from the early 18th century to the early 19th century and are made of ashlar stone with cornices. Five of the tombs are plain, featuring panelled sides and corner pilaster strips, while the other five have carved lyre ends and square central panels with decorative carving. This collection represents a good variety of classical and local tomb styles and significantly enhances the setting of the church.
