Description
The John Cooper and Elinor Cooper chest tombs are located 3 yards to the north-east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. These two chest tombs date from 1644 and commemorate John Cooper, a minister, and his wife Elinor. They are made of ashlar and feature panelled sides with a cornice. The panels are sunken and have billet surrounds. This collection of classical and local tomb types enhances the setting of the church significantly.
