Description
Horton Primary School and the adjoining School House were built in 1860 as a National School. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared rubble with freestone dressings and feature a 20th-century tiled roof, along with ashlar and rubble stacks. The school, located on the left, is a single-storey structure with two three-light windows that have Geometrical tracery and gables, and a lateral stack positioned between them. A wide gabled wing extends from the left side, featuring a similar window, while a projecting gabled porch is found on the right side, topped with a bellcote on the ridge. To the right of the school is the School House, which has a gabled cross wing and includes two- and three-light windows with trefoil heads, along with a door located in the re-entrant angle of the side elevation. A 20th-century extension to the left is not included in this description.
