Description

The Old Meeting House is a Quaker meeting house that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 17th century and has undergone later alterations and additions, including a meeting room added to the rear in 1695. The building is constructed of rubble with a pantiled roof featuring stone ridges and a gable stack on the south side. It has an L-shaped plan that includes a rear block with two half-hipped roofs joined at the center valley.

The structure is 1½ storeys tall and has three windows, with two gables, each containing a 20th-century window with a timber lintel. On the ground floor, there are 20th-century windows to the left with timber lintels, double doors situated between the gables, and a 4-light casement window on each side featuring timber mullions and lintels, leaded lights, and loop catches. The north wing includes a garage door and 20th-century dormers on the west and south sides, with a similar dormer to the left of the main block. The south elevation has a 2-light casement window in the gable with a timber lintel and leaded lights. The rear of the building features two 24-pane sash windows.

Inside, there are plank and batten doors, and a winder stair that diverges to the right and left. The front room has two timber piers with a cornice, likely indicating the original rear wall of the house before the extension for the meeting room. The meeting room contains removable paneling with double shutters and double doors. The ground floor front windows have flat mullions to the left and chamfered mullions to the right, along with decorative catches.
