Description

Nos. 17, 18, and 19 Charlotte Street are three small houses in a terrace, built in the early 19th century. They feature slate hanging on the exterior, wooden doorcases, and dry slate roofs for Nos. 17 and 18, while No. 19 has an asbestos slate roof with a stepped design. Brick stacks rise over the party walls, many with old pots. The houses have a double-depth plan and are two storeys high, each with a one-window front and a doorway on the left side.

No. 19 has an original 16-pane hornless sash window on the ground floor, although some glazing bars have been removed; the other houses have later horned sashes. The doorcases for Nos. 17 and 18 have moulded hoods and consoles, with 20th-century doors. In contrast, No. 19 features an original pilastered doorcase with a moulded entablature, panelled reveals, and a panelled door.

These houses are rare, virtually complete examples of early 19th-century workers' housing, while other houses in the terrace have been significantly altered. The interiors have not been inspected.
