Description
No. 4 St Andrew's Street is a mid-19th century shop premises located in Plymouth. The building features a stucco front with a roof that is concealed behind a parapet, which has a heavy moulded cornice. There is a brick stack on the right side. The structure has a double-depth plan, with the shop at the front and a wide through passage on the left that leads to the rear. It stands three storeys tall and has a two-window range. The late 19th-century windows are four-pane horned sashes. The ground floor includes a moulded string over the passage and a late 19th-century pilastered transomed double shopfront. This shopfront is flanked by consoles supporting a moulded entablature with a fascia. The angles feature slender turned columns, with a splayed doorway and attached columns on either side of the plate-glass windows, which have quadrant heads. There is also an overlight and a glazed door. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of a notable group in the historic centre of Plymouth.
