Description

This is a terrace of fifteen cottages and a further property at number 12A, built in the mid to late 19th century in Plymouth. The cottages are constructed of roughly squared Plymouth limestone rubble, with brick detailing around the windows and entrances, most of which has been painted. The roofs are steep and covered in slate, with prominent gables facing the street, featuring projecting verges and decorative wooden bargeboards. Tall brick chimney stacks are positioned axially on the houses.

The arrangement is of a double-depth plan, with a single room at the front of each house, and each pair sharing a centrally placed entrance. The design features a symmetrical two-window frontage for each pair of houses. Segmental arches frame some original casement windows located centrally on the first floor. At ground floor level, three-light transomed wooden mullion windows are present to the left and right. Relieving arches sit above the paired doorways, topped with square hood moulds. Some planked doors appear original, while others have been replaced with modern glazed doors. The interior of the cottages has not been inspected.
