Description
The perimeter wall enclosing the north corner of the South Yard at Devonport Dockyard is a Grade II listed structure dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble and features a tall wall with interval buttress pilasters that extends approximately 200 meters northeast from the entrance to Morice Yard. The wall then returns for about 110 meters to the southeast and is interrupted by the former entrance to the yard, which has wickets made of ashlar sections with arched heads. This wall formed the boundary of the yard when it was expanded in the late 18th century and played a significant role in the security of the dockyard, marking the extent of the late 18th-century dockyard.
