Description

The walls and railings surrounding the reservoir were built in 1843. They are made of granite ashlar and cast iron. The triangular reservoir is lined with granite and features railings topped with urn finials. This structure was initially constructed to supplement the 18th-century old reservoir to the north and is connected to the fire hydrant system. It has the capacity to hold 1,860 tons of fresh water. Fire prevention was a significant concern for the Yard offices, and this reservoir is considered an essential part of the dockyard's operations.
