Description
Fursdon Barn is a large threshing barn, likely built in the 18th century, that has been converted into a club with flats above. It is constructed of slatestone rubble and features a dry slate half-hipped roof with three small roof lights. The barn has a rectangular plan that includes two threshing floors, each with two pairs of opposing doorways, along with 20th-century extensions. It stands two storeys tall, with a very high upper storey that contains two tiers of pigeon holes and two slit ventilators. The wide threshing doorways are topped with slate hoods, except for the right-hand doorway at the front, which is now part of the 20th-century wing. The ground floor has six wide round-arched doorways, with the two on the right located within the 20th-century extension. Inside, each bay features a heavy cross beam, and although the first floor was not inspected, it is noted to retain the original roof structure.
