Description
This is a terrace of six houses located on Wyndham Square, built around 1810 by the architect John Foulston as part of a planned development. The houses are constructed of incised stucco with decorative sill bands, and have dry slate roofs with projecting eaves and brick stacks. They follow a double-depth plan.
The building presents a symmetrical facade with three storeys and a regular arrangement of windows: (3:3:5:3:3) plus a four-window return to number 7, which also projects forward. Most windows retain their original hornless sash glazing, although later-inserted, horned sashes are present in some. The first-floor windows of the central bays feature moulded hoods supported on consoles. Ground-floor windows have moulded round arches defined by impost strings. Doorways are topped with plain fanlights and feature 20th-century panelled doors. Number 7 has a pilastered porch with a moulded cornice.
The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to retain features of interest. As part of a rare, virtually complete planned group of buildings by Foulston, the terrace holds group value.
