Description

The monument to Davids and Maynard is a chest tomb located in the churchyard to the south of St Mary's Church in Portbury. The earliest legible dates on the tomb are for Stephen Davids and Israel Maynard, who both died in 1800, although the tomb itself dates back to the 18th century. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar with limestone ashlar ends. The design features square inscribed panels, oval end panels, and corner balusters.
