Description
Hill House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 17th century, which was refaced around 1800. It is constructed of rubble with freestone dressings and features double roman tile roofs with raised coped verges and ashlar stacks. The building has a U-plan and is two storeys high, previously having a cellar and attic.
On the west elevation, there are three windows, all of which are margin-glazed sashes set in architraves with keystones. The central entrance is a six-panel door located behind a 20th-century glazed lean-to porch. The south return elevation features four two-light casements with ovolo-moulded mullions under hood moulds on the first floor. The ground floor has a two-light casement in a chamfered surround, followed by a blocked door and a three-light window similar to the others. The gabled end of this wing has blocked single attic lights with ovolo-moulded surrounds and hood moulds. The rear of both wings displays irregular fenestration, which, despite alterations, still includes two and three-light ovolo-moulded mullion casements under hood moulds.
