Description
The Grove is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with extensions and a reorientation in the early 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar and lined-out render, with slate roofs featuring raised coped verges and ashlar stacks.
The south elevation originally had five windows on the left, with sash windows in moulded architraves. A central moulded door frame is topped by a pediment supported on corbels. The facade has a plinth, a string course below a plain parapet. The gabled west return features a single light with a hood mould in the attic. A two-storey extension to the east contains two sash windows, followed by a lower single-storey wing.
The north elevation’s main block has three windows, plus two in a recessed east wing; all are sash windows, except for a casement window at ground level on the left. A central porch is supported by two plain Doric columns carrying a frieze, with a six-panel door and a partially-glazed fanlight above, accessed by a flight of four steps. The north elevation also has a plain parapet.
