Description
This is a circa 1700 house, later altered in the 18th and 19th centuries, now divided into two dwellings – St Michael's House and The Cottage. The main part of the house, St Michael's House, is rendered and finished to look like ashlar, with a plain tiled roof, hip to the left-hand slope, dentilled eaves cornices, and brick stacks. It has two storeys and an attic, with catslide dormers. There are three bays with a 2-light casement window in each, French windows on the right-hand side, and a 16-pane sash window on the first floor with a blind box. A two-storey, single-bay extension, The Cottage, is attached to the right. A 6-panel door, positioned off-centre to the left, leads into St Michael's House, and is protected by a 20th-century porch. The Cottage has a 20th-century door. Inside St Michael’s House, a room on the first floor features a bolection moulded fire surround with a moulded cornice and mantelshelf, along with a panelled overmantel that breaks into pieces of a dentilled cornice.
