Description
Manor Farmhouse is an early 17th-century farmhouse. It has a pantile roof with raised coped verges and kneelers, and is roughcast. The building follows a “T” plan with a cross-passage. The southern wing is two storeys high, with two windows; these windows are mainly 3- and 4-light casements with ovolo moulded timber frames, some of which have been replaced in the 19th century. A 4-panel door, dating to the 19th century, is centrally positioned to the right, sheltered by a 19th-century glazed porch. A blocked staircase window, marked by a dripmould, sits to the right of the porch. To the right is the rear of the northern wing, which is two storeys high with one window, also under dripmoulds. The main, north-facing elevation is two storeys high with four windows. The rear elevations of both wings have irregular window placement, with the northern wing’s windows again under dripmoulds.
Inside the southern wing, the cross-passage is visible, along with deep, chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and an inglenook. The northern wing features ogee moulded spine beams with run-out stops on both the ground and first floors. The east ground floor room contains remnants of an early 18th-century plaster cornice. In the west ground floor room is a 18th-century shell hood display cupboard. Between the wings is a large room containing a continuous newel winder staircase located in the south-east corner.
