Description
The garden seat and sundial, located immediately northeast of the walled garden, were constructed in 1897. Made from pink sandstone ashlar, the garden seat features arms at the ends and a tall back adorned with ball finials. The raised center of the seat is inscribed with "VR:60," commemorating Queen Victoria's Jubilee. In front of the seat stands the octagonal base of a sundial, which is inscribed around the edge, although its pedestal is missing. This piece represents well-designed late Victorian garden furniture.
