Description
The Estate Office, originally built as estate gas works, dates from the late 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with freestone dressings and features a Welsh slate roof with gabled ends and stone coping, rising to two axial stacks with set-offs. The building has a rectangular plan and is a single storey.
The southeast front is asymmetrical with five bays, including four large two-light casement windows that have horizontal glazing bars, slightly chamfered stone lintels, and weathered cills. There is a doorway on the left with chamfered arises and a plank door. At the northeast end, there are segmental arches over a window and a blocked doorway. A lean-to is located at the rear.
Although the interior was not inspected, this building is noted as a good example of a Victorian estate gas works and is part of a very complete series of estate buildings at Tyntesfield Park.
