Description
Drive Cottage is a country house lodge built around the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features steeply-pitched clay tile roofs with bands of shaped tiles, overhanging eaves, and gable ends adorned with ornate pierced barge boards at the deep verges. The building has a stone axial stack.
The plan includes a gabled cross-wing on the right, which has a porch in the angle. The lodge is designed in a picturesque Gothic style and is one storey with an attic. The west front showcases the gabled cross-wing on the right, featuring ornate bargeboards, a pointed arch attic window in the gable, and a bay window on the ground floor. The gabled porch in the angle also has similar barge boards and a plank door, while the roof of the main range extends down to low eaves on the left.
The north side has a wide gable with low eaves and pointed arch windows, while the south side includes a 4-centred arch window and a small outshut. The interior has not been inspected. Drive Cottage is part of a series of Victorian lodges at Tyntesfield.
