Description
Manor Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse with two cross wings, which may also date from the 17th century. It features a porch that was added in 1824, along with some contemporary and 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of rubble and rendered, topped with a pantiled roof that has stone ridges and gable stacks.
The farmhouse has an H-plan layout, likely originally designed with a through passage and a symmetrical front. It is two storeys high and has four bays. The front facade includes gable ends that are slightly advanced on both the left and right sides. The central range consists of two bays with ridge stacks on either side of the porch. The ground and first floors on both sides have two-light casements, while the ground floor features a central two-light casement that may indicate the original position of the door. To the right, there is a studded door with raised fillets and a moulded frame, set within a gabled brick porch dated 1824, which displays an eagle crest on a shield. The first floor has two additional two-light casements, all adorned with splayed stone heads.
On the left side, the return has a ground floor 20th-century plate-glass window and a two-light casement, along with two more two-light casements beneath the eaves. The right return includes a lean-to with a two-light casement and a door to the right, plus two two-light casements on the first floor. The rear of the farmhouse shows the gable ends of the wings on both sides, with varying sizes of two-light casements on the ground and first floors, all featuring splayed stone heads. A single-storey lean-to is situated between the wings, which has a door in a moulded frame and three roof lights. The interior has not been inspected.
