Description

The Station House at the former Sandford Station is a house that was originally the station master's residence, built in 1869. It was designed by Francis Fox, who was the engineer for the Bristol and Exeter Railway Company. The building is constructed of snecked rubble with freestone dressings and has a roof covered with plain clay tiles. It stands two stories tall and features one window. There is a pitched porch with a panelled door, and the windows are casements set beneath cambered brick heads. The house has a large gable adorned with ornate bargeboards. It is included in the listing for its group value context.
