Description

The goods shed at the former Sandford Station, built in 1869, was designed by Francis Fox, who was the engineer for the Bristol and Exeter Railway Company. This single-storey factory is constructed from snecked rubble and features a single track for broad gauge. The north and south gables each have two massive keyed arches, with one side being blank and the other open for tracks. Above these arches are central circular louvres. To the north, the shed is partially obscured by later offices and extensions. The west elevation, which faces the track, includes three large round-headed windows with minimal Venetian cast iron tracery set in keyed openings with springers. The eastern elevation has a very large round-headed wagon entrance beneath projecting eaves, flanked by windows similar to those on the west side.
