Description
Latchkey Cottage is a detached cottage situated at right angles to the road, dating from the early 18th century. It features flint brick and cob walls that are painted, along with two brick sleeper buttresses. The cottage has a thatched roof with a left hip and a right gable. There are rebuilt brick stacks on the ridge to the left of center and at the right gable. The building is one and a half storeys high and originally had four windows, which were formerly irregular. Currently, it has two-light wooden casements with glazing bars that were rebuilt in the 20th century to match the original design. To the right of center is a plank door with weatherboarding, dating from the 19th century. The interior has been significantly altered in the 20th century, with the central hall removed. There is an open fireplace at the right end, featuring rebuilt jambs and a stop-chamfered lintel, along with a bread oven.
