Description

No 53, known as Pound House, is a detached house dating from the early 19th century. It features rubble-stone walls with dressed stone quoins and has an asbestos slate mansard roof. There are brick stacks at both the left and right gables. The house has two storeys, a basement, and attics. It includes three windows, which are two-light wooden casements with glazing bars and wooden cills, dating from the 20th century. The central front door is panelled and also from the 20th century, with a wooden canopy above it. Additionally, there is an attached rubble-stone wall that fronts the High Street, which dates from the 19th century.
