Description
The stables and coach houses at Smedmore House are a range built in the 18th century. They feature stone walls and a hipped stone slate roof, forming a U-shaped layout with stables in the center and coach houses in the wings. The building is one storey high with attics. The main north front includes a central archway, which has a rusticated round-headed arch topped with a pediment. The coach houses are equipped with large timber doors and do not have windows on the ground floor. The attic features two gabled dormers. The south front is similar but includes round-headed windows on the ground floor. There are indications of built-up openings in the east wall, separated by a circular stone column. The interior still retains some old stable fittings.
