Description
The Manor House is a house that underwent extensive remodelling around 1730 to 1744 for Thomas Hasket, with further alterations around 1760. It is built of brick in Flemish bond, with some areas rendered and the south gable featuring mathematical tiles, along with ashlar dressings. The house has slated gable-ended roofs, stone copings, and end brick stacks.
The east facade is two storeys high and has five bays. It features an ashlar plinth, a plat-band, an eaves course, and rusticated quoins. The windows are sash style with gauged brick heads that include keystones and stone aprons. The central window on the upper floor has a stone architrave with side scrolls and a key-block. The central doorway is framed by a moulded stone surround topped with a pedimented cornice.
Inside, the north room of the east range has fielded panelling and a fireplace with an entablature supported by Tuscan columns, flanked by two 'gothick' ogee-headed niches. The south room of the same range also features fielded panelling and a fireplace with Ionic pilasters. There are two bestibules between the north and south rooms, both with fielded panelling; the westernmost contains the stairs, which have turned newel posts, balusters, and a moulded handrail. The 18th-century doorcases have carved and moulded architraves, and the doors feature fielded and beaded panels.
