Description
No. 5 is a cottage with an attached cart-shed, located at right angles to the main building. It dates from the 16th century or possibly the 17th century and has undergone significant alterations. The cottage features coursed, squared rubble walls and a thatched roof with gable ends. There is a lateral stone stack on the rear wall, which has set-offs and a bread-oven, along with a tall 20th-century brick stack at the upper part and another brick stack at the left-hand gable. The building is two storeys high and has four windows, which are 2-light wooden casements with wooden cills and lintels. One of the windows has a 17th-century stone frame with a separate label above it, containing another 2-light wooden casement with blockings on each side. The front door, located at the left-hand (west) side in the angle with the cart-shed, is a 20th-century door with four glass lights. The attached cart-shed, dating from the 18th century, has rubble-stone walls and a hipped slate roof. It features two plank door entrances on the south side, which are also 20th-century, while the north side is open-fronted and supported by a central rubble-stone pier.
