Description
Throop House is a house of early 18th century origin that was enlarged around 1869. It features brick walls that include some earlier ironstone walling in the lower parts, which may be remnants of an earlier building. The main wing has a low-pitched slate roof, while the older rear wing is thatched. There are brick stacks, and the main wing is adjacent to the road and dates from the 19th century. The house has two storeys, with a part-glazed panelled door set in a timber porch. On the ground floor, there are three casement windows with cast iron lights, and the first floor has four similar windows. The rear kitchen wing, which is early 18th century, has one storey and attics, featuring casement windows with glazing bars. The front boundary is marked by a low brick wall topped with a fence of timber posts and hanging chains. To the south of the house, there is a brick and cob boundary wall with tile capping.
