Description

Horn Park is a large house built in 1911 by T. Lawrence Dale in the Queen Anne style. The east elevation features coursed lias rubble walls with ashlar dressings and applied quoin-work. It has a stone plat band and hipped tile roofs that are bell-cast in shape. A heavy wood cornice contains the guttering, and there are two stone stacks just below the ridge with moulded cornices, along with further stacks on the south elevation. The house is two storeys high with attics and has five windows that are sashes with wide glazing bars, wide flush wooden frames, and wooden cills. There are also five dormers with two-light casements and glazing bars, topped with hipped tile roofs and boxed eaves.

The central door is framed by a portico supported by coupled Tuscan order square piers and a single Tuscan column at the front. Above this is a large open segmental pediment with a recess-panelled soffit. The original entrance is located on the south elevation, featuring a Tuscan pilaster surround and an open and broken segmental pediment above. A stone cartouche displays the arms of the Pinneys alongside a cornucopia. The door itself is made of wood and has 15 panels.

Inside, the drawing-room boasts a segmental and cross-vaulted plaster ceiling, and the fireplace is adorned with thin rinceaux and a cornucopia. An elliptical-arch corridor features plasterwork roses, and the doors are bolection-moulded in two panels. The staircase includes turned wooden balusters.
