Description
The Raw Materials Store, Ropery, and Finished Product Warehouse at Pymore Mills is a continuous range of mill buildings dating from around 1850, located at the north end of the site. The Raw Materials Store features coursed Lias stone walls and a slate roof with gable ends. It stands three storeys high with attics and is seven bays wide, with casement windows that have top-hung opening lights, all set under segmental arches made of large voussoirs. There are loading bays located at the center, and a central dormer bay with a gable that is corbelled out.
The middle section, known as the Ropery, is constructed from the same materials and has three gabled roofs with two valleys. This part is a single storey and is twelve bays long, featuring large mullion and transom cross windows, along with a round-headed doorway at the extreme right.
The left block, which is the westernmost section, is the Finished Product Warehouse, built with the same materials. It also has three storeys and attics, is five bays wide, and includes casement windows with stone cills. The central part of this elevation contains loading and unloading bays that run the full height. At the left end, there is an outshut made of rubble with a pentice slate roof, and an octagonal red brick chimney is located at the rear.
