Description
North Lodge, along with its gate piers and walls, is a lodge building dated 1861. It is constructed from squared, dressed rubble and features a modern tile roof with gable ends and ashlar dressings. The lodge has a picturesque asymmetric plan in the 19th-century Tudor style and stands two storeys tall, with a modern addition. The ground floor includes a canted bay with stone mullioned windows, while the upper floor has a plain casement window beneath a square label. There is a 20th-century porch to the right. The building also features a moulded wooden barge-board and a staged chimney to the left, which has octagonal terra cotta flues. Adjacent to the lodge are the gate piers and flanking walls, which are possibly from the late 18th century, marking the entrance to Thornhill House.
