Description

The archway is set into the garden wall of Castle House, located just north-west of Nos 10 and 12 on Pound Lane. It is believed to date from the 13th century and is constructed of Purbeck ashlar. The archway is framed by two courses of headers and is currently blocked with breeze-blocks. It features a two-centred design with a single chamfer on the inside and a single roll on the outside. This archway may have originated from the demolished castle or from the nave of Lady St Mary's church.
