Description

The Manor House is a house largely dating from around 1700, with additions made in the mid-19th century. The original north range is constructed with a rubble ground floor and a brick first floor in a Flemish garden bond pattern, set against ashlar dressings. The roof is tiled, with stone slate verges, and features a brick end stack to the left. It is two storeys high with an attic, and has a five-window front. The ground floor windows are stone, hollow-chamfered, mullioned, with square heads. There are four lights in each window, except for the window to the left of the doorway, which has five. The upper floor windows are timber framed with leaded lights, mirroring the arrangement of the ground floor, and a three-light window above the door. The central doorway is of ashlar, featuring a moulded, eared architrave, a keystone and an entablature with a broken segmental pediment. A moulded plinth and ashlar plat-band are also present. An east-facing wall has a projecting chimney breast. The building is recognised for its early 18th-century section rather than the later 19th-century additions.
