Description

Droop Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble walls and has a thatched roof with gable ends, as well as brick stacks at the ends. A later rear wing has a slated roof and a gable end. The house has two storeys and a four-window front. It features sash windows with glazing bars, flat stone arches over the windows, and a six-panel glazed door. A 19th-century addition extends to the rear. Inside, there is a 16th-century stone fireplace with a beam above, featuring carved ovolo and diamond motifs. The building retains cruck construction. The farmhouse is documented in "RCHM Dorset, Vol III," page 108.
