Description

The Bastard monument, located in the churchyard immediately south of the tower of All Saints Church, is a table-tomb dated 1731, though it likely dates from the late 18th century. It is made of stone and features a flat chamfered top and a moulded plinth. The monument has oval panels, with the outermost designed as sunk paterae. Beneath it is a brick vaulted tomb with an entrance located under an adjacent stone slab. The inscriptions commemorate members of the Bastard and Barfoot families, including the architects Thomas Bastard from 1731 and John Bastard from 1778.
