Description
Burlton Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into a single house. The north-eastern cottage dates from the 17th century, while the south-western cottage is from the 18th century and has a later extension added in 1955. The earlier cottage features irregularly bonded brickwork with an ashlar landing, while the later cottage is constructed from rubble, brick, and flint. The building has a thatched roof and brick stacks at both ends, with the left stack featuring a large, stepped external chimneybreast. The older cottage is a single storey with an attic, while the later cottage has two storeys. The front has four irregularly spaced windows, with ground floor openings that have segmental brick heads and feature two and three light casements with horizontal glazing bars. There are also 20th-century part-glazed doors. Inside the older cottage, there are remnants of the original roof structure, which may have been of cruck construction.
