Description
38 and 39 Horsford Street are two houses located at the end of a row, likely originally constructed as a single dwelling. They date from the early 19th century and feature a rendered exterior with a slate mansard roof. The buildings have two storeys and an attic, with a total of three windows. The front includes small two-light raking dormers and a central first-floor 12-pane sash window set in a moulded flush box. This central window is flanked by two-storey canted bays that have plain sash windows and moulded cornices on each floor. The main entrance features a central six-panel door within a pilaster doorcase, which has a horizontal reeded frieze adorned with rosettes and a moulded cornice with a slight hood. There is a similar door located to the far left. The rear of the building mirrors the front with two dormers and includes a central projecting gabled two-storey range, along with a small two-light casement window on the first floor to the left. The ridge has stacks located at the centre and on the right gable. The interior has not been inspected. The building is recognized by a plaque from the Weymouth Civic Society for its careful restoration of original details.
