Description

The former Coopers' shop, now used as a store or workshop, is attached to a former brewery range and was built in 1869. The building features rubble and brickwork, horizontal boarding on framing, and a concrete tile roof. It is an L-shaped single-storey structure located on a triangular site immediately south of Brewers Quay, with the base of a former stack remaining on the east side.

The front facing Brewers Quay is constructed of rubble with brick dressings and rounded outer corners, featuring a central loading door in a gabled half-dormer above 20th-century doors. The Spring Road front also has rubble with brick dressings, a small eaves stack, and a large square stack podium made of brick, topped with a stone capping and saw-tooth brick dentils. The east front displays the date "1869," while the north front has "D & Co" (Devenish).

Inside, the walls are framed with slender cast-iron columns. The north range consists of six bays with 9-pane fixed casements above boarding and doors to bays one and four. The east range has five bays and is similar, including a series of 20th-century roof lights. The outer gable is made of rubble with boarding and features a pair of full-height wide plank doors. The roof structure consists of 19th-century king post trusses. This building is an integral part of a notable group of brewery buildings in the Hope Square area.
