Description
Keeper's Cottage is a detached cottage that was formerly used as a gamekeeper's residence, dated 1843 as noted on the pump. The building features brick walls, with part of the front wall plastered, and has a tiled roof adorned with bargeboards and a brick dentil cornice at the eaves. It has a central brick stack that has been rebuilt, featuring two diagonally set shafts and oversail caps. The cottage has an L-shaped plan and consists of one storey and an attic.
On the front elevation, there is a projecting gabled wing at the left end, which is plastered. This wing includes a canted bay window on the ground floor, characterized by stone mullions and cast iron lattice glazing. In the attic, there is a two-light stone mullioned window beneath a hoodmould, also with similar glazing. To the right of the gable, there is a lean-to porch that is gabled in the centre and supported by concrete posts. The porch features a battened door set in a four-centred stone arched opening. At the rear, there is a single-storey lean-to with a slate roof. Inside this structure is a lead pump, dated 1843, which displays a relief figure of a man and the initials "El."
