Description
No. 5 Mustons Lane is a building dating from the 18th to 19th century. It is a two-storey structure with a two-window front, constructed of stone rubble. The upper floor features sash windows that are five panes wide, while the lower floor has casement windows. The entrance consists of a wooden boarded door set in a frame. At the back of the building, there is a wall that is 4 feet 3 inches thick, which is pierced by a medieval arch. It has been suggested that this arch may have been part of an Abbey School or one of the lost churches of Shaftesbury. The building is part of a group that includes the Congregational Church, the wall and railings enclosing the church, and Nos. 3 to 7 (odd) on the same street.
