Description

High Hall is a house dating from circa 1670, with alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries, and additions of 1880 by Crickmay and circa 1910 by J A Gotch. The walls are plastered with raised quoins, and the roof is tiled with stone eaves courses and a moulded cornice. Large brick stacks are located in the centre spine wall. The original house has a compact double-pile plan, with later extensions at each end. It has two storeys plus a basement and attic.

The north elevation contains the main entrance. Both the ground and first floors have five double-hung sash windows with glazing bars and moulded surrounds. The attic has three hipped dormers. A 19th-century western addition, of one storey and basement, features a flat roof with a parapet and cornice. The eastern extension is of two storeys and matches the design of the original house. The south front has a central doorway in a classical surround with a pediment, approached by stone steps. The ground floor has four double-hung sash windows with glazing bars in moulded surrounds, and the first floor has five. Five hipped dormers are present in the attic. The western extension has a bowed front with double-hung sash windows.

Internally, the main rooms have 18th-century panelling and a 18th-century cut string staircase with turned balusters.
