Description
Loverley Mill and Mill House is a mill and mill house dated 1740, with the house likely built in the early 19th century. The structure features brick walls and a slate roof, with end brick stacks on the house. Some ashlar dressings are present. The building is two storeys high, with the house having three bays and the mill displaying irregular fenestration. Most openings are topped with segmental brick heads. The house includes two-light casements with horizontal glazing bars on the upper floor and full glazing bars below. There is a central gabled, glazed timber porch. The mill features a round arch with a dated keystone marking the tail race outlet.
Originally, the mill housed two undershot or low breast-shot wheels, which were replaced by a turbine that drove a "Harefield" pump in the early 20th century. This pump was used to supply water to Moor Crichel House.
