Description
Didlington Lodge is a lodge located at the entrance to a park, dating from the mid to late 19th century. The lower parts of the walls are made of brick with stone dressings, while the upper part is timber framed and partially tile-hung. The building features a tiled roof with ornamental bargeboards and a crested ridge, along with a central brick stack that has vertical ribbing and an oversailing cap. It has an L-shaped plan and consists of one storey and an attic.
The gable end facing the road has upper walls that are tile-hung with ornamental tiles. On the ground floor, there are two casement windows with glazing bars, and there is one window in the attic and one at the mezzanine level. The roof extends over a porch at the right end, which contains a pointed arched doorway made of stone and a small window with lead lights. To the right of the porch, there is a projecting gabled wing that features a four-light stone mullioned window with lead lights on the ground floor. The attic storey in the gable jetties out and is timber framed with ornamental plaster infill. In the attic, there is a timber oriel window with lead lights, a moulded cornice, and a bracketed sill, along with ornamental tile-hanging in the gable area, contributing to its picturesque appearance.
