Description

The obelisk in Moreton Park was built between 1783 and 1786 by Captain John Houlton in memory of James Frampton. It is constructed of ashlar stone and stands 70 feet high. The obelisk features a base with a moulded plinth and cornice, and it is topped with an urn. The original tablets with inscriptions have been removed.
