Description
Two headstones are located in the churchyard, 12 meters north of the Church of Saint Nicholas, commemorating Benjamin and Elizabeth Jesty. One headstone is dedicated to Benjamin Jesty, who died in 1816, and the other to his wife Elizabeth, who died in 1824. Elizabeth's headstone features carvings of cherubs. The inscription on Benjamin Jesty's headstone states, "The first person known that introduced the Cow Pox by innoculation," indicating his significance in medical history, as this predates the work of Edward Jenner. These headstones are included primarily for their historic interest.
