Description
The Austen monument is a table-tomb located in the churchyard, 1 metre north-west of the north aisle of All Saints Church. It was constructed in 1865 and is made of limestone, featuring panelled sides and a moulded top. The tomb has inscriptions dedicated to Elizabeth and the Reverend Henry Austen. Originally, it was surrounded by iron railings. At the time of the church's rebuilding in 1852-1853, Austen was a curate and contributed £300 towards the costs; he later became the incumbent. The monument also commemorates his father and son, both of whom served as incumbents of the parish before and after him, respectively.
